What Has Become of It

Thanks Jan & Ghee,

Ala lng.. emote.. hehehhe. Things like this comes when I'm just about to go home. I promised my self to go visit that place when time and means permits. It saddened me a lot to know many houses stood there now a days. Very nostalgic.

The feeling is like you were pulled off from where you stand; like a mean time machine robbed the very you of your existence. And, suddenly you burst back to where you once stood - only to discover the people you're supposed to grow up with grew ahead of you. All are familiar but - strange. Polluted. Funny, because now, you will end up in the spot light for bullies. Hehehe.

One thing I missed from that place is the smell of everything around when you commune with the small river. Very soothing, meditating, serene, therapeutic and spiritual.

By end of 1984, a company for which the family (real owner of the property) is tightly associated with, converted the entire land into a corporate facility for visitors and vacationers. An amenity exclusive for the cynical corporate elites. But, what can we do, during those times, even at young age, I envy my eyes to the exclusivity of the facility.

Children, a little bit older than my age, came with their well-off parents. By their very acts of play, I can tell they were brats - indulged with everything; While I and my siblings, well, we were either playing mud wheels on a torked rubber band; or, rolling an iron bearing balls in our hands.

I think the brook has gone now. Been converted into a sewer. :-(

One thing is sure though, James. You've not grown cynical over the years. This post shows it. Funny is it not that one's vulnerabilities can also prove to be one's strength. :)

Hi Jan,
Nope, I wouldn't be. I believe each one of us has this feeling that when everything seemed tumbling down, there is one place in ourselves we would like to keep for sanity's sake. And for me, that is, a place where we once found ourselves introduced to reality and at peace with everything. thanks for reading.
