The Power Within Us...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

3568hkal2764 I just couldn't resist pulling tag from one of my friend Ludig's blog. This is a famous quote by Nelson Mandela during  his 1994 inaugural speech.

True indeed. While there is nothing wrong with being timid, like a gluttony for food, when it's more than enough, becomes a poison. When we don't react, while our rights to grow as a person or as a nation is hammered, we unconsciously give the other person the permission to use and abuse us.

A lesson learned from my previous company here in Dubai. Nothing really happens to people who are passive and not willing to be heard. Although the change was painful, it is an eye-opener.

Old Photos from the Old Family Chest (Part 2)

KARAAN9I don't like it when old photos depict vague untold stories. Un-captioned. I would appreciate to receive any comments from any of my cousins out there regarding this photo. The family lineage could be from that of the Pastorals, Ceniza, Guňez or Fontanosa - I just really don't know.

I'm quite puzzled because nobody in the house recognized the persons wed in this photo either. Nevertheless, I think the couple had good and bad times in their lives. I only wish they had been strong and went through the hard times.

According to my grandmother, this photo was taken sometime during the 1930s. And I forgot to take down notes of everything she told me. There have been lots of photos discussed that day I guess - that's why.

I was actually going to collect old family photos to scanning, restoration and archiving to CD but never got the resources when I was still back home. The materials however original and better always tears-out and aged. When you put them into CD it can be viewed multiple times over the ages. Especially when published such as this one. :-)
